When a program, file, folder is opened in the computer. So these items open in the shape of a box or frame. This Box or Frame itself is called Window. (Program Window)

Each item present in the computer has its own separate window and the content in it is also completely different from other windows. Windows are found everywhere in Windows OS. Perhaps that is why this Operating System has been named Windows.

We can also customize the window according to our own. We can resize them, hide them etc. Below we are telling about customizing the window.

Parts of a Window

By the way, each window is different. But some things are the same in all windows. Which are included in each window. Their texture and number can be more. Below we are telling about these Common Window Parts. (Program Window)

Menu Bar – In this bar there are buttons related to Program, File, Folder. This bar is below the Title Bar.

Title Bar – This bar is the topmost part of the window. Program and File Name are displayed on this bar. If you have opened the folder then the Folder Name is displayed.

Minimize Button – This button is the first of the three buttons available in the Title Bar. With the Minimize button, the window is hidden and pinned to the taskbar. (Program Window)

Maximize Button – This button is located in the middle. The window is enlarged according to the screen by the Maximize Button. Another form of this button is Restore Down. Which is used to bring the Maximized Window back to the previous size.

Close Button – This is the last button on the title bar. And its symbol is X. By this the window is closed.

Scroll Bar – This bar is present in two places in the window. For the first time, it is on the right side, which slides up and down. And other times there are Bottom Size i.e. downwards which slides up and down. Contents are moved up-down and right-left through them.

Border – This is the outer part of the window. The window is moved by holding it. And the size can also be changed.

Move the window or slide the window

When we work on the computer, we keep more than one program, files, folders open. Due to which there is no space left to see the desktop. So we have to move Open Windows. Or for any other reason we have to move Windows. That’s why below we are telling how to move the window. (Program Window)

  • Move the mouse pointer on the title bar of the window you want to move.
  • Now drag the window while holding down the Lift-Click of the mouse. And leave the location i.e. after reaching the particular place.
  • By doing this the window will reach the new place.

To see the correct and complete Window Contents, we have to change the Window Size. We can change the window size in two ways.

  • by Title Bar
  • by Mouse

1 Changing Window Size by Title Bar

There are a total of three buttons in the Title Bar, out of which the middle button, which is called Maximize and Restore Button, works to change the window size.

  • To fill the entire screen from the window, click on the Maximize button.
  • To bring the window to the old size, click on the Restore Down Button.

2 Changing Window Size by Mouse

By Title Button, we cannot change the size of the window as per our choice. That’s why we have to take the help of Mouse. The method of which is being explained below. (Program Window)

First of all, move the mouse pointer on the border or corner of the window you want to resize.
You can resize a window from 8 sides. Which includes 4 corners and 4 sides.
Now when the Mouse Pointer turns into a two-faced arrow. Then drag the Window Border or Corner. By doing this the size of the window will start increasing.
To minimize the window, drag the window in the opposite direction. And keep doing this till you get the desired shape.

Hide window

You can also hide the window for a while or as long as you want. The process of hiding the window is called Minimizing. The method of which is being explained below.

  • The window you want to minimize. Click on the Minimize Button present in its Title Bar. Doing so will cause the window to disappear from the desktop. And you will see a button on the Taskbar.
  • To unhide the window, click on its button made on the Taskbar, the window will show and you can work on it again.

Close the window

When the work on a Program, File, Folder is completed. Then it has to be closed. This work is done only after closing the window. The method of which is being explained below. (Program Window)

  • The window of which you want to close. Click on the Close Button made on its Title Bar.
  • Doing so will close the window.
