Memory Unit

What is memory? (What is memory)

Memory is an important part of computer system. Data and programs are stored in memory before any operation. The input device sends data and instructions to the CPU, which is first stored in memory and then processed by the control unit.(Computer Basic Course)

Structure of Memory

What is Internal Memory?

Structure of Memory
Structure of Memory

Memory is inside the computer. Where data and programs are stored after processing, it is called internal memory. There are two types of internal memory:- (a) Primary Memory (Primary Memory) (b) Secondary Memory (Secondary Memory)(Computer Basic Course)

What is Primary Memory?

User-supplied data and instructions are first stored in the primary memory and after execution it can be stored in the secondary memory for future reuse of the result. Primary memory is part of the processing device because without it the computer is not able to boot/work. Primary memory is also called main memory.
There are two types of primary memory: (a) RAM (RAM) (b) ROM (ROM)
(Computer Basic Course)

What is RAM? (What is RAM)

What is RAM
What is RAM

RAM stands for Random Access Memory. Data and instructions stored in RAM can be read repeatedly without being destroyed. Its data is lost when the power fails, that is, the RAM stores are destroyed when the power supply is turned off, RAM is also known as main memory. RAM can be replaced.

What is ROM? (what is rom)

What is ROM
What is ROM

ROM stands for Read Only Memory. The instruction of the ROM is permanently built into the circuitry by building the program. A ROM cannot be replaced. This is a permanently built memory. The contents of the ROM cannot be lost when the power is gone. Check the connection of hardware parts using ROM. Eg:- Harddisk.(Computer Basic Course)

What is Secondary Memory?

Secondary memory is basically used to store each and every data which you want to reuse in future. It stores every data as a ‘file’. Secondary memory is a random access memory. It spins at a very high speed to read/write data. Hard disk is an example of secondary memory.(Computer Basic Course)

What is Hard Disk? (what is hard disk)

What is Hard Disk
What is Hard Disk

It is the most essential storage device of the computer. All the programs, software etc that you need are stored in a hard disk. It is the fixed disk in the computer system. You cannot move the hard disk anywhere from the computer. It rotates at high speed from 1000 rpm to 6000 rpm. Its storage capacity varies from a few kilobytes (KB) to a terabyte (TB).
