Type of Computer

How many Types of Computer ?

There are three types of computers:-

1.Analog computer

2.Digital computer

3.Hybrid computer

(i) What is Analog Computer?

What is Analog Computer
What is Analog Computer

Which can continuously measure changes in physical and electrical state such as pressure, temperature, voltage, length etc., is called analog computer. Analog computers are used for scientific and engineering purposes. A car or bike speed meter is an example of an analog device.(Computer Basic Course)

(ii) What is Digital Computer?

What is Digital Computer
What is Digital Computer

Digital Computer The computer which displays data from “ON” and “OFF” position is called digital computer. Electronic circuitry characters are stored in a binary rotation consisting of “0” and “1”. The first digital computers were designed for numerical computations in the late 1940s.

(iii) What is Hybrid Computer?

Hybrid computer The combined effect of analog and digital computer is known as hybrid computer. This system combines the measuring capabilities of an analog computer and the logical and central capabilities of a digital computer.(Computer Basic Course)

Hybrid computers are divided into six categories.

Hybrid computer categories:-

1 Super Computer
2 Mainframe Computer
3 Micro Computer
4 Mini Computer
5 Personal Computer
6 Laptop Computer

1.What is Super Computer?

What is Super Computer
What is Super Computer

Supercomputers These are the most powerful computer systems available today. Supercomputer systems are very expensive (cost in million). It is used in scientific fields such as weather forecasting, nuclear weapons development, government agencies, etc., where big data based and complex computation capabilities are required.

2. What is Mainframe Computer?

What is Mainframe Computer
What is Mainframe Computer

A mainframe computer can process large amounts of data at very high speeds (10 million instructions/second) and can support multiple input, output and auxiliary storage devices. Mainframe computers have multi-user facilities and remote job entry stations. Its cost is very high. It is used in airway reservation and railway reservation.(Computer Basic Course)

3 . What is Micro Computer?

What is Micro Computer
What is Micro Computer

Microcomputer system is the smallest, cheapest and most commonly used computer system. It is based on the microprocessor, which is a single IC that contains an ALU as well as memory and control capabilities for input/output access.

4 .What is Mini Computer?

What is Mini Computer
What is Mini Computer

Minicomputer systems have similar capabilities than mainframe computers but have smaller primary memory and are less powerful than mainframe systems. It is also cheaper than mainframe.

5 . What is Personal Computer?

What is Personal Computer
What is Personal Computer

A personal computer (PC) is basically a microcomputer, which offers a wide range of capabilities and can be used as a stand-alone system. They have become very popular due to their low cost, which is within reach of a large section of the educated population in most developed countries.(Computer Basic Course)

6 .What is Laptop Computer?

What is Laptop Computer

Laptop computer is a very small computer system. It is very easy to carry it from one place to another in hand. It has an output device based on LCD. Lap top computers are used by businessmen to keep records of their large business transactions. It helps them for easy reference.(Computer Basic Course)
