Working With Keyboard
Remember: Christopher Sholes invented the keyboard which was the modified model of typewriter.
A keyboard is an input device of the computer. The small buttons on the keyboard are called keys. It sent the data to computer by typing.
There are different types of keys on the keyboard.
Alphabet keys: you type letters by pressing the alphabet keys.
These keys are marked with the English letters A-Z, but not arranged in sequence.
Number keys: The number keys are used to type numbers. they are marked with number 0-9.
Number keys are present at two places on the keyboard:
- On the top of the alphabet keys.
- On the right hand side of the keyboard.
- This is called the numeric keypad.
Special keys
There are some special keys on the keyboard. These keys are called special keys. Let us learn about them.
Caps lock key

To type in capital letters, press the caps lock key. It is present in the left side of the keyboard. after pressing the caps lock key, a light glows on the top right corner of the keyboard.
Now, you can type in capital letters.
Press the caps lock key again. the light goes off and you can type small letters again. there is one capslock key in a keyboard.
Backspace key
You rub whatever you have typed by pressing the backspace key
Backspace key rub the characters to the left of the cursor.
Suppose you typed wrong spelling of he word ‘computer’ as ‘COMPUTER’. position the cursor after the Misspelt letter and press the backspace key to correct your mistake.
Spacebar key
you give spaces between the words by pressing the spacebar key. pressing it once to give single space.
it is the longest key on the keyboard.
Enter key
You take the cursor to the next line by pressing enter key
Name lock key
This key is used to use the numeric keypad.

Delete
This key helps you to rub or remove any character to the right of the cursor.
arrow keys
These keys help you to move in all four directions on the screen. the four direction are top, bottom, left and right. these keys are also known as cursor control keys.
Cursor
The small blinking line on the screen which shows your position on the screen is a cursor.
