Hello friends I welcome you Sumit to our HE Blog, I hope you are healthy and safe. Friends, today we are going to talk about Speakers.

Today we will know what is a speaker, how does it work and how many types are there? So let’s know –

What is Speaker

Speakers are used by connecting to a computer to produce sound. Which is one of the most common output devices. Some speakers are designed to connect to any type of sound system, while some can only be connected to a computer.

As with computer speakers, the computer’s sound card produces a signal that is used to produce sound. The primary purpose of speakers is to provide audio output for the listener.

In the form of transducer, electromagnetic waves are converted into sound waves through the speaker. Devices such as an audio receiver or computer provide audio input to the speaker. Which can be in the form of analog or digital. The function of an analog speaker is simply to amplify the analog electromagnetic waves into sound waves.

Sound waves are produced in analog form. But first the digital input is converted into analog signal by the digital speaker, then the sound waves are generated.

Frequency determines the pitch of the sound, how high or low it is. For example, a bass guitar or kick drum produces fewer sound waves, while the voice of a soprano singer produces sound in the higher frequency range.

The sound quality How clear it will be depends on the capability of the speaker system. If it is able to reproduce sound frequencies accurately. So it can be the best indicator to determine audio quality.

There are many speakers that have different speaker cones. which enable them to produce more accurate sounds for different ranges.

A three-way speaker typically consists of a subwoofer, mid-range speaker and a twitter driver. Whereas the two-way speaker has a mid-range speaker and a twitter driver. The air pressure produced by the sound waves of the speakers determines the loudness or amplitude.

Like a computer’s sound card and some other audio sources produce less signal. Which may need to be amplified by the speaker. That is, most external computer speakers use electricity to amplify the signal.

Speakers that have the ability to amplify sound input are commonly known as active speakers. If the speaker can be plugged into an electrical outlet or has a volume control. So you can easily determine whether the speaker is active or not

Passive speakers are those that have no internal amplification. These speakers require a high level of audio input as they do not amplify the audio signal.

Usually, the speakers come in pairs to produce stereo sound. This means on two separate channels left and right, the speakers produce audio

Music sounds a lot more natural when you use two speakers. Because in this position, our ears hear sound from left and right at once which makes the sounds more natural. In addition, surround systems can produce more realistic sound because they can include four to seven speakers, including a subwoofer.

How do Speakers work

The housing, cone, a magnet and iron are used to make the speaker. They work by converting electrical energy into mechanical energy. Mechanical energy acts to compress the air and convert motion into sound pressure level or sound energy

When a device provides electrical input to the speaker. So an electric current is sent through a wire. which generates an electric field and this interacts with the magnetic field associated with the speaker.

When the speaker receives electrical input from a device. So the voice coil is connected to go back and forth. The back and forth motion vibrates the outer ear which we hear as sound

Classification of speaker types

Speakers are classified based on the drives they have and other components that make them unique from others. There are many types of speakers available in the market which are given below –

Dynamic Speaker → These come under passive speakers. which have one or more woofer drivers. This is the most common type consisting of one or more twitter drivers and used to produce low frequency sound.

Subwoofer Speaker → This type is responsible for producing low-frequency sound. Because it includes a base port. They have a large woofer driver. Speakers of this type have the ability to improve the bass over other complementary speakers without necessarily compromising on the sound quality.

Horn Speaker → They are very similar to Dynamic Speaker. Including the way the drivers are arranged in the wave guide structure. These speakers are accompanied by horns which provide users with the advantage of higher level of sensitivity and transmission of sound than

Electrostatic Speaker → If you are looking for crisp and detailed sound then this can be the best option for you. These consist of a fine membrane and a drive mounted on two conductive panels.

These diaphragm speakers are, in most cases, used for higher frequencies and are always plugged into an external power outlet. Also, if you are looking for low-frequency speaker types then these are not ideal for this purpose.

Planar-magnetic Speaker → Planar-magnetic speaker has a thin metal ribbon instead of a diaphragm. It differs from electrostatic because they do not require an external power source to operate. In addition, these speakers can last longer and provide higher utility value.
