What is 7 Types Operating System |Full Detail

To understand the operating system, you have to know what are the types of operating system. Because there are different types of operating systems for different purposes.

There are different types of operating systems. Through this, the work of operating whatever programs run in the computer and whatever devices are connected to the computer is done.

The task of giving interface to the computer to the user is done by the operating system itself, so that the user can easily complete the tasks in the computer. In this article, we will know that “What are the types of operating system” or “How many types of operating system are there.” Before that take a look at the working of the operating system.

How many types of operating systems are there ?

There is not just one but several types of operating systems that you should be aware of. The operating system plays a very important role between different programs and users and hardware devices.

There are mainly 7 types of operating systems, namely Batch Operating System, Multiprocessing Operating System, Distributed Operating System, Network Operating System, Time Sharing Operating System, Real Time Operating System, Embedded Operating System.

1. Batch Operating System

In batch operating system, similar tasks are grouped together in a batch with the help of some operators. And then after that all the batches are executed one after the other through the process.

For example if we have 40 such programs which we have to execute and some of those programs are written in C++ language while some programs are written in Java language or some programs are written in C language, in such a situation when We run each of these programs separately.

So for this it is necessary that we load different compilers for each language and then execute the program.

On the other hand, if we create a batch of 40 programs, we only need to load the compiler for C++ once.

Not only for C plus plus language but we also have to load compiler for C language and Java language at the same time. This way we don’t have to load the compiler again and again.

2. Multiprocessing Operating System

Under multiprocessing operating system, many multiprocessors come to do the same work and they all work together to complete that work.

Multiprocessing operating system is not for normal user. It is mainly prepared for use in the office so that more and more users can work together on the same work.

3. Distributed Operating System

In Hindi language, it is called distributed operating system, under which the user has many systems and all the systems present with the user have their own resources such as CPU and memory etc.

The resources under the Distributed Operating System use a shared communication network to connect with each other. And whatever system is under it, they perform their work individually.

It also has remote access, which means that data from other systems can also be accessed and worked on by the user.

4. network operating system

A network operating system is an operating system based on a server. Network operating system works under the same network by combining different types of computers.

It is jointed through a private network and after that all the computers in it are connected and the work is done to access all the data inside them through the server.

Network operating system is extensively used in bank and requires login id and password to access it.

5. Time Sharing Operating System

If the multitasking operating system goes to the time sharing operating system, then there will be no big deal in it.

The time-sharing concept is used under the time-sharing operating system and with the help of the time-sharing concept, it executes one or more programs at a particular time.

Under this, the time it takes to complete the work is called quantum and when one task is completed, the operating system executes the new task and the process continues like this.

6. Real Time Operating System

Real time operating system is used when a user is working with real time data. Because as soon as the data is received, the process starts without any delay, due to which there is no delay in buffering and no buffer.

If a user has to complete the processing process in less time by putting a huge amount of request in the process of processing, then he should use real time operating system.

There are total 2 types of real time operating system.

Hard Real Time: The work that is done in this does not take even a second’s delay to complete, that is, the work that is received for the time is completed in the same time.

Soft real time: Those which are soft real time operating systems do not have any limitations of time. If some work is going on, then if a new work comes in the meantime, priority will be given to the new work that has come.

7. Embedded Operating System

Embedded operating systems are also created to perform a specific task or are created for a specific device. It is mainly designed for a specific job. Other than that it doesn’t work.
