You want to move a particular part of a Paint Drawing from one place to another. That is, you want to move it (Drawing Part). So for this you use Cut or Paste. A Shape/Drawing and a word/word group can be selected in many ways in MS Paint. In this tutorial, we will tell you how to select in MS Paint in 3 ways. So let’s know, the 3 ways in which Drawing / Shapes and words / word group are selected in MS Paint.

1- Selecting by Home Tab

Step: #1 – Open Paint Tool

First of all open MS Paint. To open it, you go to the start menu and search by typing “paint” there. The paint tool will be searched in front of you. Or you can also try that method by opening other computer programs like you.

Step: #2 – Prepare the Paint Drawing

After opening MS Paint, you have to make a drawing in it. If nothing is already made in it then. If you have made something up then you leave it as it is. If you want, you can also open any pre-made paint drawing.

Step: #3 – Activate Select Tool

After making the drawing, you have to activate the select tool. For this, first go to Home Tab from Menu Bar. Go to its Image Group and click on Select. Doing so will activate the select tool.

Step: #4 – Select Drawing

Now the part you want to select. Drag the Mouse Pointer up-down or right-left while pressing Left Click on it. By doing this, that drawing will be selected.

We have made a Paint Drawing above. In which there are 3 clouds. Here we have selected a cloud using the Select Tool. Which you can see in the drawing above.

So in this way you can select any paint drawing and then use the selected part to create another painting or save it in a new file.

You have used the Select tool of MS Paint above. In this tool, many options related to Selection are given. Mostly they are not used. Because we deal with their work with Keyboard Shortcuts. Below we have told about each tool of Select Tool.

Rectangular Selection

Rectangular or square part of a drawing/shape is selected through Rectangular Selection. On selecting by this, a particular part of the drawing which is selected. That square is selected.

Free-form Selection

As the name suggests. Free-form means that you can select Image / Drawing / Shape in any size through this. If you want to use the round part of a drawing, then you can select through free-form selection. For this, you have to rotate your Mouse Pointer in a circular shape. And the round part of the drawing will be selected.

Select All

The entire canvas is selected by Select All. All the drawings you have made. All of them get selected together by using Select All.

Invert Selection

Its gate is used to deselect the already selected object. An Image / Shape has been selected by you. When you select Invert, then that Image/Shape gets deselected. And the entire canvas gets selected.

Delete

By this the Select Object/Shape/Image is deleted. If you want to delete a particular part of a Drawing/Shape/Image, then first select that part. And after that delete it through this tool.

Transparent Selection

When Background Color of Selected Drawing/Shape/Image is not to be used. Then the Transparent Selection is used.

2- Selecting by Keyboard

Words in MS Paint can also be selected through the keyboard. To select from the keyboard, you have to use some keyboard shortcuts. Follow the steps given below to select from keyboard.

Step: #1

First of all, the word or line you want to select. Click there with the mouse. This is done to bring the Mouse Cursor to that line or word. Which one to select.

Step: #2

After this, using Arrow Keys with Shift Key, you can select the word / word group or you can also select the entire paragraph. Keep in mind one thing here that you have to hold down the Shift key.

Step: #3

If you press CTRL + A from the keyboard, then the entire MS Paint document will be selected simultaneously.

3- Selecting by Mouse

You can also select a single word or entire paragraph of an MS Paint document with the mouse. This is a wonderful trick. By which you can save a lot of time. For this you just have to click with the mouse. Follow the steps given below about selecting with mouse.

1-By moving the Mouse Cursor of the word you want to select, click 2 times (Double Click) quickly. By doing this that word will be selected.

2-If you want to select Paragraph. So for this, by moving the Mouse Cursor over that paragraph, quickly click 3 times (Triple Click) with the mouse. By doing this, the entire paragraph will be selected simultaneously.
