Difference Between LCD and LED
Hello friends are you looking for the difference between LCD and LED – Difference between LCD and LED. So you have chosen the right post
Friends, earlier we have told you about monitors. If you have read that post then this post will prove to be very good for you. You can easily understand LED vs LCD. Let me first introduce you to LCD and LED –
What is LCD
The full form of LCD is Liquid Crystal Display. The LCD screen contains a substance called liquid crystal. The particles of this substance are aligned in such a way that the light is reflected backwards on the screen. which allows to generate an image or block
Liquid crystal display presents a clearer picture than CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) display and emits less radiation. In addition, it consumes less power and takes up less space than CRT displays.
What is LED
LED is a flat screen computer monitor which means Light Emitting Diode Display. It is light in terms of weight. It uses a panel of LEDs as a source of light
Nowadays a large number of electronic devices, both large and small, such as laptop screens, mobile phones, TVs, computer monitors, tablets, etc., use LED displays.
It is believed that James P Mitchell invented the first LED display. On March 18, 1978, the first prototype of an LED display was published on the market at the SEF (Science and Engineering Fair) in Iowa
Difference between LCD and LED
Following are the differences between LED and LCD –
LCD Monitor
- LCD means liquid crystal display.
- LCD monitor is not a subset of LED monitor.
- LCD monitors mainly use fluorescent light.
- In LCD, the fluorescent light is usually located on the back of the screen.
- Compared to LEDs, LCDs are less energy-efficient and are thicker in size.
- LCD has low resolution.
- Contrast ratio of LCD is high.
- Direct current can shorten the life of the LCD.
- The display area of the LCD is bigger.
- Switching time of LCD is slow.
LED Monitor
- LED means Light Emitting Diode.
- LED monitors are a subset of LCD monitors.
- LED monitor mainly uses light emitting diode.
- Light emitting diodes are located on the sides or back of the screen.
- LEDs are more energy-efficient and are much thinner in size as compared to LCDs.
- LED’s resolution is high.
- LED’s contrast ratio is low.
- Direct current has no effect on LED.
- LED’s display area is small.
- LED’s switching time is fast.
