It is noteworthy that till Wednesday, the total number of houses sanctioned under PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban) is 112.4 lakh, out of which base has been prepared for the construction of 82.5 lakh houses and of these 48.31 lakh have been completed/distributed. have been done.
For this, the total investment is fixed at Rs 7.35 lakh crore, out of which Rs 1.81 lakh is to be given as central assistance. Out of this amount, an amount of Rs 96,067 crore has been released. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has emphasized on expediting the completion of housing construction across the country within the stipulated time under PMAY-U.
Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said, the demand for approval is being raised from all the states/UTs. Our main focus now is to utilize the unutilized funds and ensure completion of the projects within the stipulated time.
In the meeting, the States/UTs also put forth their proposals for revision of projects due to various issues such as land, landform hazards, inter-city migration, change in work priorities, loss of life etc. Addressing the participating States and UTs in the meeting, the Secretary of the Ministry emphasized on six Light House Projects (LHPs) whose foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in January, 2021.(Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Update)
LHP is being manufactured in Agartala, Chennai, Lucknow, Ranchi, Rajkot and Indore. These projects should motivate all concerned departments involved in construction, he said.
