Memorandum Voucher in Tally

Memorandum Voucher is a non-accounting voucher, which is used to record the transaction in memory only in case of Suspense Payments, Advance Payment and Voucher Verification in Tally, Account Books of the transactions recorded in this Voucher There is no effect in Ledgers. It is recorded in the Memorandum Register only.

Transactions recorded in Memorandum Voucher can be converted into Accounting Voucher if required, the effect of which will be visible on our Account Books and Ledgers.

Memorandum Voucher which we also know as Memos Voucher, whose shortcut Ctrl + F10 Key is used to enter Tally.

When and how to enter Memo Voucher in Tally

Memo Voucher means Memory Voucher, which means that we have some such transactions in our business-business, which do not need to be entered, they are kept only for memory, we enter such transactions in Memo Voucher.

The entry in Memos Voucher (Memorandum Voucher) is done as follows –

First of all go to main window of tally.
Now go to Gateway of Tally.
After that go to Accounting Vouchers.
Select Memos Voucher.
Or Ctrl+F10 button press karen.
Now enter the date.
Do Debit Entry.
Make a credit entry.
Write Narration.
Save by doing Ctrl+A.

To enter the Memorandum Voucher, first we have to click on the Memos Voucher option present under Accounting Voucher or press the shortcut key Ctrl + F10 button through which we can enter the Memorandum Voucher, so let’s go through the Memorandum voucher for example. Enter the voucher.

Usage : ₹ 500 given to Ramesh as advance.

In the above example we are giving ₹ 500 to Ramesh as advance, in this transaction entry we can do through provision in Tally but you can directly enter in memorandum voucher and at the time of actual salary payment it will be shown as payment voucher can convert to. As you have been told earlier that to enter any transaction, first we have to do ledger creation, then in the above example we have to create ledger for two types –

1- Ramesh a/c – indirect expenses
2- Bank account – bank account
