What is Umang App ?
Full form of UMANG is Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance. Umang App has been developed by National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) with the aim of driving mobile governance in India. This mobile app is designed to provide individuals access to central, state and local government services using a single platform.
How to Download Umang App for Android and iPhone ?
There are different ways to download Umang app on your mobile phone:
Scan the QR code given on the official Umang App website
Get Umang app link on your phone by giving a missed call to 97183-97183
Receive a download link for the app by SMS on the phone number provided by you on the Umang website
Alternatively, you can also download Umang directly from Android Play Store and Apple iTunes App Store. The download link is given below:
How to register on Umang App ?
To register a new user on Umang App, follow the following steps:
Step 1: Launch Umang app and click on “Register” option
Step 2: Once you click on the Register option, you will be redirected to the mobile number verification page. On this page you have to enter your mobile number to generate OTP to complete the Umang App registration process.
Step 3: Once you generate and input the OTP, you will be asked to set the m-PIN and once you set the m-PIN, your registration is complete and you can go to Umang App Home. Can see the page. This page shows a shortlist of services recently opened through the Umang app.
How to log in to Umang App:-
You can log in to the UMANG app using various methods:
Mobile number registered with Umang App and m-PIN
Registered mobile number with Umang app and OTP
If you’ve updated your social media account information with the app, you can log in using your Facebook, Google+ or Twitter.

The main advantage of Umang is that you can access online government services offered by the Central and State Governments. Following are some of the key features of this government scheme app:
Simple categorization of services like recently viewed, new and updated, trending, top rated and suggested
Easily search for specific state or central government service using in-app filters
Available in many regional languages as well as English
You can avail over 150 different central and state government services using the app
Option for easy online payment of various utility bills – Gas, Water, Electricity etc.
Major integration services through Umang app include DigiLocker and Aadhaar.

Following is a list of services available through UMANG application for mobile:
Service And Information
Digital Locker- A secure cloud-based platform to store, share and verify documents/certificates
Aadhar Card- This allows you to download as well as view your Aadhar Card from DigiLocker account
EPFO- This service on Umang allows you to know your EPF (Employee Provident Fund) account balance, EPF pension account balance, etc. using UAN and OTP on registered mobile number.
NPS- National Pension System log-in through Umang app allows you to check your Tier 1 and Tier 2 account balance etc. through PRAN and password.
Pay Income Tax – This module available through UMANG application allows tax payers to pay their advance tax, self assessment tax etc. using Challan 280. After tax payment, tax paid challan can also be tracked using “Track Challan Status” service
Ayushman Bharat- It is a national health security scheme which is currently being implemented as a pilot project to provide primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare network to the public.
E-Rakta-Kosh- This UMANG module is designed to provide access to blood banks through greater digitization and connectivity of blood banks across the country.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana- This part of the app is designed by the government to provide services that promote financial awareness and usage across the country.
Jeevan Pramaan- Jeevan Pramaan service is available only for pensioners. This UMANG module allows pensioners to generate life certificate using mobile handset linked to an external biometric device.
Parivahan Seva – Vehicle Currently, this module in UMANG allows you to pay Commercial Road Tax if the vehicle registration certificate is updated on DigiLocker.
How to use services on Umang App ?
Umang App registration/log-in and OTP/password can be completed using any phone number in India, using the specific log-in ID and password for that service to access individual services. For example:
To use EPF module, you need to provide UAN number along with OTP sent on your registered mobile number
To use NPS in Umang App, you have to provide PRAN along with password/OTP on the registered mobile number
To access income tax payment through UMANG facility, you need to provide important information like PAN as well as date of birth etc.
How to know EPF balance on Umang App ?
Click on EPF module on the home page of the application
This will redirect you to UMANG EPFO log-in page
To log in, enter your UAN (Universal Account Number) and OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
Choose from Employee Centric Services, General Services, Employer Centric Services, Pensioner Services and e-KYC Services depending on your requirement.
To know EPF passbook balance, you have to click on “View Passbook” link on Umang EPF page shown below.
You will now be redirected to the Passbook Account Details page on the app as shown below. This page shows the UAN you are logged in with and shows the PPF account statement related to the UAN provided.
Click on PPF account number to view EPF passbook:
You can click on the Deposit or Withdrawal option to view the transactions done on your EPF account
Withdraw money from EPF using Umang App:-
Once you have logged in to Umang’s EPF portal you can easily withdraw money from EPF using the Umang app. Click on “Raise Claim” option as shown below.
Currently, the Umang EPFO module can be used for PF withdrawal applications (employees’ contribution only) as well as requesting final settlement using Form 19 among others.
